Liberty Welcomes Eric Preece as Next Principal

Eric Preece has been selected as the next principal for Liberty Elementary. With more than 22 years of dedicated service to Fayette County Public Schools, he has served as assistant principal at Cardinal Valley since 2023. He will begin his new role July 1.

Mr. Preece’s career in education began in 2004 in Lexington, where he served at Arlington Elementary as a special education teacher. He continued in different classroom teaching, coaching, and administrative roles in FCPS until 2023, when he joined the administrative team at Cardinal Valley. 

“Mr. Preece brings a commitment to fostering a culture where every student is championed and every teacher is empowered to grow,” said School Leadership Chief Matt Marsh. “His background in instructional coaching, data-driven leadership, and his specialized expertise in Dual Language Immersion and multilingual education make him the ideal leader to build on Liberty’s strong foundation.” 

Mr. Preece holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), and an English as a Second Language Endorsement from EKU.
